Inpulse 500 - Poor audio quality with 2023.HDJS.2 driver

I recently set up a new laptop for use with my Inpulse 500. I installed the latest drivers from this support website. I experienced poor audio quality with the 2023.HDJS.2 drivers.

I noticed the buffer size was set very low (1ms). When attempting to adjust the buffer size to the "Safe 16ms", the driver control panel and the DJ controller would lock up and stop responding properly. It would look like the setting had been changed, but after rebooting the PC (because the driver froze) I would find the setting had been reverted back to 1ms.

I uninstalled and reverted to the 2023.HDJS.1 driver and everything works fine. I'm fine with using the older driver for now, but this seems like a problem that needs to be addressed.
