Hello.
My problem is with a Hercules DJ Console 4 Mix.
When I connect the USB, the headphone button lights up for a moment, then fades out.
That's all it does.
Windows doesn't recognize it; after a while, the unknown device message appears.
I've tried several PCs, reinstalling the drivers, and nothing.
Even on the PC I always use, the same thing happens.
Everything points to a physical problem.
I've disassembled the mixer and checked voltages and everything else I couldn't find without any information (I'm an electronics technician).
If possible, I would appreciate technical information and a schematic of this mixer.
Personally, I think the firmware has been corrupted, so I'd like to know if it's possible to get the file to reprogram the memory.
I have the means to program the chip.
I'm delighted with this mixer and would like to be able to repair it, so I would appreciate any information.
Thank you very much in advance.
Hello CG2,
You do not describe the computer & operating system on which you have connected your DJ Console 4-Mx, but if your situation is the one mentioned on DJ Console 4-Mx download page, https://support.hercules.com/product/djconsole4mx/ in the warning on top of the page
If your computer PC/Mac with USB 3 ports does not detect your DJ console:
Test your DJ Console on a PC with either Windows 7 or Windows 8.0, or with not any USB 3 port.
Open the Hercules DJ Control Panel, go to the About tab and check the Firmware version.
To work on computers with a USB 3 port, the firmware version must end with 16 on DJ Console 4-Mx
and DJ Console 4 Mx unit has its firmware either bricked (not readable = the controller cannot boot) or too old, then the solution is to update the firmware.
If you have already disassembled some part of the electronics, you may
- remove the eeprom from its socket (on the printed circuit board where you see the USB connector)
- to program the firmware in the eeprom with an eeprom burner.
Please confirm if you have an eeprom burner (either a basic one as CH341A based programmers, or a more sophisticated model) and know how to use it, and then I send you the bin file to program in DJConsole 4-Mx eeprom.
Thank you very much for your interest.
I've tried several PCs, with Windows 10 using a USB 2.0 cable (the same one I've been using for a long time).
Having read the article you mentioned, I installed Windows 7 and the drivers on a PC, and the result was the same. When I plugged the USB into a 2.0 port on the desk, the headphone light came on for a moment and then went off. After a moment, Windows displayed the unknown device message.
If you could send me the .bin file to write to the EEPROM, I have no problem burning the memory.
I have a professional programmer, as well as the basic CH341A model.
Thank you very much. Hello.
Hello CG2,
I have answered with a temporary link for the firmware bin file in your private messaging.
Please look at your profile page and check the "Messages" tab.
Thank you very much.
I won't be able to schedule it for another 15 days, as I'm on vacation and out of town.
I'll let you know the results once I've completed it.
Hello CG2,
No problem but please download the files as the transfer host server keeps files online for 7 days only.
