Is this the RMX' last stand?

I hope this is not "it" for my classic RMX as I still use it at home, where space is a premium, but.... has anyone else's RMX basically brick after the most recent Windows 11 updates? I've tried with multiple USB cables, multiple machines, and with a USB powered dock. The buttons flash for about seven times, then nothing. Windows Notification will tell me that the machine sees the "Hercules RMX" and then that's it. The RMX still shows up in my Virtual DJ as an option, but the controls and faders won't do anything in the application.

This controller has seen a lot of action including festivals and opening for Gary Numan once. Hope it's not fried and just needs new drivers/firmware for the latest Win11.

Hello DJNeidermeyer,

For me, DJ Console Rmx still works in Windows 11.

1) Can you check in Hercules DJ control panel if the MIDI channel is still the default one, channel 1 in Windows?

2) If control panel sees Rmx as being on MIDI channel 1, can you test in another DJ app, for example DJUCED and test if the Rmx controls DJUCED?

If DJ Console Rmx controls DJUCED on your PC, then the issue is related to DJ Console Rmx x VirtualDJ.

I have read on VirtualDJ forum there is an issue in VirtualDJ with some Windows 11 update.

https://virtualdj.com/forums/267695/VirtualDJ_Technical_Support/Windows_11_KB5077241_caused_a_VirtualDJ_closing_issue.html

and until this issue is fixed, you may remove the update causing this issue with the process described on

Thanks for the response. Right now, the Hercules Control Panel won't even load! All the options are greyed out! The icon sits in my taskbar area with the big red X through it.

I have also seen that issue on the Virtual DJ forums, so I presume they're working with Microsoft to figure out a fix.

The funny thing is, the Hercules shows up in Virtual DJ as a device, and the Windows sound panel sees it, too. But none of the RMX controls (sliders, knobs) will work.

Based on lots of scuttlebutt I've seen on the internet on various forums, it must be a problem with Microsoft's new MIDI structure. Hopefully all the vendors will get Microsoft to fix it and hopefully Hercules won't need to put out firmware updates.

Hello DJNeidermeyer,

Please check if you have installed or not Windows Preview update KB5074105.

If DJ Console Rmx does not connect to its drivers, its MIDI commands do not work as it is not a native MIDI device, so it is logical the DJ app still sees the DJ Console Rmx as it is a class compliant USB audio device, so the computer sees the USB audio device called DJ Console Rmx, but if the MIDI drivers are off, the controls cannot work.

Sadly, windows (at least my installation) will not delete KB5074105 for whatever reason (and yes, I am an admin). I found another possible workaround involving the MIDI issue today and will try it out later this evening.
