Hello, My controller DJ 4SET doesn't boot up, im using every original stuff from this controller and when i connect it via usb, just the mic left button shows the green light for about a second and then it blows off again. The controller seems to be broken, i didn't found any info about this issue and i need to ask if there's any way to fix it.
If someone knows how to fix it up, i would appreciate it so much. I even updated the drivers from the official hercules website, but still does the same. the USB is in good condition so i don't think the issue is the USB.
Thanks for everything.
Hello Magnolia2003,
Welcome to Hercules community area.
Reporting a technical issue to a community of people who cannot see your computer is efficient only if you make the effort to provide in technical words the basic technical information on:
- your computer setting (operating system version, computer model, type of USB port, DJ app version, driver version ...)
- your technical issue (what you see on the screen)
as described here.
So if, close to you, there is someone who is at ease with computers, it may be good to ask this person to help you to write your message.
If you have updated drivers from Hercules website ( https://support.hercules.com/en/product/dj4set-en/ ) you may have read the warning at the top of the page which describe possibly what happens on your computer.
"Warning
If your computer PC/Mac with USB 3 ports does not detect your DJ console:
Test your DJ Console on a PC with either Windows 7 or Windows 8.0, or with not any USB 3 port.
Open the Hercules DJ Control Panel, go to the About tab and check the Firmware version.
To work on computers with a USB 3 port, the firmware version must end with:
- 16 on DJ Console Mk2,
- 32 on DJ Console Rmx,
- 22 on DJ Console Mk4,
- 18 on DJ 4Set,
- 16 on DJ Console 4-Mx."
So, if you have at home a computer with Windows 7 or Windows 8.0, then please install Hercules driver package 2020 HDJS 1 on this computer, connect the DJ4Set unit to this computer and look, in the control panel, at the about tab, if the firmware version ends with 18 or ends with a smaller number, for example 10.
My computer has Windows 10, i'm sure the issue is that i didn't installed the firmware, the other owner who i bought the controller didn't said anything about this and i didn't knew about this, i don't have the cd instalation. and im not able to find anywhere anyway. Im getting so mad for didn't knowing this when i was buying a second hand one. My fault.
i think too, my pc hast USB 3.0. i cannot try on Windows 8 or 7 since i don't have any other pc to test out.
tell me if i need to say any specs of my pc or my controller. Thanks for the help.
Hello Magnolia2003,
Thanks for your answer.
DJ4Set firmware update file is in the driver package since 2014 so you need no installation CD.
The point is that the firmware updater program cannot update the firmware in DJ 4Set if DJ 4Set is not properly detected by the computer, which is why I ask you if you have access to an old computer, whose operating system is older than Windows 8.1 (as in Windows 8.1, Microsoft has replaced the Intel USB-3 layer by its own Microsoft USB-3, causing possibly the detection issue you now meet).
So:
- either you can find a PC with Windows 8.0, or Windows 7, or Windows XP, and you have a USB hub powered by a power adapter (not powered by the USB bus), and then if you install Hercules driver package for DJ 4set, have DJ 4Set detected, and then, with the help of the USB hub powered by its power adapter, I give you the information to update the firmware of your DJ 4Set.
- or you cannot find a PC with an old Windows system, then the remaining solution is more complicated as you have to
1) remove the screws under the casing of DJ 4Set to have access to the printed circuit boards,
2) remove the printed circuit board which has the USB port,
3) remove the eeprom from its socket on this printed circuit board,
4) program the eeprom on an eeprom programmer (either on a basic CH341A programmer or on a more advanced equipment if you ask an electronic repair store to reprogram the eeprom) after I send you the file to program,
5) re-install the now programmed eeprom on its socked on DJ 4Set Printed circuit board with USB port,
6) re-assemble DJ 4Set,
7) and test if the issue you meet was due to the firmware or to another cause.
I got some old computers on my warehouse at job that uses Windows 7, in these few days, i'll try to use one of them to test out if it detects the controller before trying the other stuff. Thanks for all. Really appreciate! I'll tell you about in a few days.
