I own a Hercules DJControl Inpulse 500 and I'm trying to do backspin/rewind effect (like a "pull up" with filter + echo) by spinning the jog wheel by hand. The problem is that the travel feels very short — even a strong, fast spin only rewinds a tiny amount of the track before stopping, instead of a long sustained backspin.
I've tried the following so far, with no real improvement:
- DJUCED: tried maxing out "Scratch sensitivity" in Settings > General, in both Vinyl and CD mode, restarted the app — no noticeable difference.
- Serato DJ Lite: tried the default jog behavior in Vinyl mode — same short travel.
- Mixxx: copied the official Inpulse 500 mapping script to my user controller folder and lowered the
rpmvalue (from 33+1/3 down to 10) inside theJogWheelBasiccomponent, hoping it would make the backspin longer — still no change, and I'm not 100% sure Mixxx is even picking up my edited copy over the built-in one.
I saw a TikTok video of someone using this same controller in DJUCED where the platter clearly spins/rewinds much more with what looks like the same hand motion, so I believe it should be possible somehow.
Is there a setting I'm missing, a different mapping file, or a hardware/firmware consideration that affects how much the jog wheel's rotation translates into track movement? Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
