Dear Hercules support team,
after 3 years using my beloved Inpulse 500, the crossfader is not working correctly anymore, in the softaware DJay Pro I can see the digital crossfader can not go completely to left side thought the hadware-fader is total to the left side, the icon on the DJ Pro bounces back towards the middle and the volume bounces back up with it, the fader on screen is almost always tingling and moves alone normally towards right direction ( On the screen) . I tested in Serato Pro also and also the fader is not working correctly, I dont know if I need to caliber it or the fader circuit just got broken.
I just want to add the controller has worked perfectly the last 3 years, and nowadays the crossfader is not working correctly on 2 dj softwares, the crossfader curve is on Mix, in serato I can turn it off, regretfully Djay pro does not have that option
I have windows 10 , procesor i7 10th generation, 32 gb ram , hercules driver 2.HDJS.2023, usb port type A (original cable taht came in package)
I would be thankfull for any kind of hint what to to, i like this controller a lot
Regards,
Alejandro
Hello Azevallos,
Welcome to the user community and happy new year.
1) If you see on screen the crossfader moving alone, I am sorry but it cannot be solved by calibration as it is a hardware defect (in fact it will even prevent from ending a recalibration).
2) To disable the crossfader in djay Pro, please have a look at djay user community discussion on
https://community.algoriddim.com/t/disabling-the-crossfader/22297
3) Regarding the possible fixes:
- if the crossfader is not worn out, the issue may be dust on the fader taper and you may try to clean the fader with an air duster (I do not believe dust is the issue here as, after 3 years, the fader being worn out is a more likely explanation). If you try to dust off with an air duster, make sure the pipe/tube blowing the air does not touch the carbon taper on the inner ground of the fader (if the pipe touches the taper, it may wear out the carbon layer and prevent the crossfader from working).
- if the crossfader is worn out, you can change the crossfader. It is a bit a pain as the crossfader is fixed on big printed circuit board, so you cannot change the crossfader board, you must remove the crossfader from its printed circuit board, and replace the crossfader with a new crossfader. If you are at ease with electronic repair, removing the crossfader is possible with a soldering iron / If you are not at ease with electronics, you may order the replacement crossfader component, and bring the controller + this crossfader to an electronic repair store (where technician repair cooking, audio, video equipment) so that they set the crossfader for you.
To order the replacement crossfader for DJC Inpulse 500, you can contact Hercules support there, they can sell it as spare part.
PS: User community is not Hercules support area (you can reach Hercules support there).
User community is an area where users talk with users to use Hercules hardware.
The 4 main differences between a user community and a technical support are than on a user community area:
- users talk with users (on a tech support area, users talk with the manufacturer's team),
- discussions are public (on a tech support area, discussions are private),
- you must write all technical info on your equipment to get help on the user community area (while with a technical support, someone may a user who does not write enough information)
- nobody answers in real time on user community areas, so the time between each exchange is longer, so it is necessary to be well organized in providing all information in each message.
