Hello everyone,
I recently started DJing as a hobby for fun and to play music at small parties with friends.
I’m running into a volume issue with my setup and was wondering if anyone here has experienced the same problem or found a solution.
My setup:
-
Controller: Hercules DJControl Mix Ultra (Bluetooth connection)
-
App: djay by Algoriddim (using the Spotify library)
-
Tablet: Lenovo Tab M11 (Android)
-
Speaker: JBL PartyBox Encore
-
Audio connection: tablet jack output with a split cable (master to the speaker / cue to headphones)
Since the controller is Bluetooth-only and doesn’t have a built-in sound card, the audio comes directly from the tablet. To be able to pre-listen in headphones, I’m using a split cable on the tablet’s jack output.
The problem is that the overall volume seems quite low. Even with the tablet volume at maximum, the master level in djay at full, and the speaker turned up quite high, I feel like the JBL PartyBox could go much louder but the signal coming in is limited.
When I connect the tablet directly to the speaker without the split cable, it seems like the sound is already a bit louder.
Has anyone experienced this issue with this controller or with djay on Android?
Can the split cable really cause that much loss in volume?
Thanks in advance for your feedback and experience.
Have a nice day.
You can check the configuration yourself under Windows 11 Sound on the volume mixer. Increase the sound on your device. A tablet should also have these settings. Is it a tablet that supports Windows?
It's a tablet which works on Android.
I tried to increase the sound on the tablet, and after increase to the max on the speaker, but it doesn't change the volume max...
Thanks for telling me that you use an Android, because there are also tablets that use Windows, although they are rare.
Open the djay app on your tablet.
Tap Settings (gear icon).
Go to Audio.
Activate Split Output.
Load two songs onto Deck 1 and Deck 2.
Move the crossfader all the way to the left or right.
Now you should have:
Master → Speakers
Cue → Headphones
