Im experiencing static on speakers when using XLR cables. Specifically whenever I connect the left side XLR.. right side is fine and rca cables are fine as well. What do I do?

Hello Rio868,

Welcome to the forum area.

Please

  1. List the brand & model of the speakers you connect to DJC Inpulse T7 XLR outputs, and which input you use on these speakers.
  2. Describe the noise you describe as static
    1. Is it a bass noise or a high pitched noise or something else?
    2. Is the noise continuous/at some moments (and then at which moment)?
    3. Is the noise the same whatever the volume setting on T7 master knob?
    4. Is the noise the same whether you play or don't play audio?
    5. Does the noise change if you touch the XLR cable?

  1. I'm using altec lansing 15" speakers. Gemini GSP-L2200PK Active 15".
  2. I'm using the Line in XLR input on speakers.
  3. I'm using a 2 to 1 XLR cable 10ft.
  4. When I connect to the left XLR output on T7 I get feedback. A continuous (hiss/hum). You can hear the feedback with and without audio playing on platters.
  5. I have ruled out the issue being the speakers and the XLR cable.
  6. I tried using the morley hum eliminator and there was no change.
  7. I tried using the ground option on speakers and thee was no change.
  8. Hiss/ feedback when both XLR outputs are plugged in.
  9. Hiss / feedback when only the left side is plugged in
  10. No hiss / feedback when only the right side is plugged in.
  11. No hiss when using RCA cables

Thanks

Hi,

I do not find a detailed GSP-L2200PK user manual, but a short 11-page per language summary GSP-2200/ GSP-L2200, without the specification of XLR input level.

What do you call a 2 to 1 XLR cable?

Im referring to an XLR splitter cable. 2 Female to 1 Male cable.

Hi,

I do not understand why using split cables instead of standard XLR to XLR cable, as I have already used such cables microphones (to connect 2 microphones to 1 input) but I would not daisy chain speakers as I chain drums microphones.

Have you tested connecting a regular XLR (female) to XLR (male) cable connected from the sound source XLR left output to the speaker input?

Hello Rio88,

If,

- when you connect the XLR cable + speaker on DJC Inpulse T7 right XLR master out, you hear good audio quality,

- and then, after switching off the T7 controller and the speaker, you connect the same XLR cable + speaker on DJC Inpulse T7 left XLR output, you switch the T7 on, you switch the speaker On, and you get a continuous hiss noise,

then I suppose there is a defectiveness or a bad setting in the T7, and you should contact Hercules support team (on https://support.hercules.com/en/contact-en/) to get an exchange.
