Feature Summary
Add an "Active Loop" toggle for Saved Loops / Hot Cue Loops so that an armed loop triggers automatically the moment track playback reaches its location.
Current Behavior vs. Desired Behavior
Current Behavior:
Saved Loops act purely as Hot Cue jumps. If a track is playing normally and reaches a Saved Loop marker, DJUCED plays straight through it unless the DJ manually presses the Pad at that exact moment.
Desired Behavior:
Allow users to mark a Saved Loop as "Active" (e.g., via a toggle icon in the software or a SHIFT combination on pads). When playback reaches an Active Loop, DJUCED automatically catches and engages the loop without requiring manual pad triggering.
Use Cases & Value
-
Safety Outros: Setting an Active Loop on a track's outro ensures the music never unexpectedly runs out or hits awkward silence during live sets, giving the DJ a reliable safety net when managing complex transitions.
-
Extended Intros: Allows DJs to load a track with an automatically locked intro loop, giving them time to align grids, adjust EQs, or layer FX before intentionally releasing the loop.
-
Parity with Industry Standards: Active Loops are a standard feature in other DJ software (e.g., Rekordbox, Engine DJ, Traktor). Adding this to DJUCED would make track preparation much more versatile for Hercules hardware users.
Suggested UI / Implementation
-
Software Interface: A small loop toggle icon next to each Hot Cue / Saved Loop slot below the waveform that highlights (e.g., turns red/orange) when armed as an Active Loop.
-
Hardware Trigger: A shortcut combination on Hercules controllers (such as SHIFT + Loop or holding a Pad in Loop Mode) to toggle Active status directly from the deck.
Thank you for your continuous work on improving DJUCED!
