When I connect the device, it gets stuck on the black startup screen, just as other users here have described. When I put it into boot mode, it also remains stuck without performing the firmware update, and it is not detected by the Hercules Stream Control software.
I have already tried the S200 Firmware Loader, but it did not work. I have also followed all the recommended troubleshooting steps, including disconnecting the device, uninstalling and reinstalling the software, restarting the computer, and reconnecting everything, but the problem still persists.

I double-checked the versions. Stream Control shows Software 2.4.10 and HSM Series Drivers 01.53, so the application and driver versions appear to match.
I also checked Device Manager: Hercules Stream 200 XLR Control and DFU both show “This device is working properly”. When I manually start boot mode, the Hercules Stream 200 XLR BOOTLOADER also shows “This device is working properly”.
However, Stream Control still only displays “No device found” and does not offer the forced firmware update. No other error message appears.
The manual firmware installer completed firmware 2.39 and restarted the device, but it still freezes on the Stream 200 XLR Pro Audio Controller logo.

So the current DLL now has the same date and version as the one you mentioned. However, Stream Control still displays “No device found”, even though Windows recognizes the Stream 200 XLR Control, DFU and Bootloader devices correctly.
The Bootloader also shows “This device is working properly”, but Stream Control still does not offer a firmware update.

yes, I already tried exactly these steps:
- Closed Stream Control completely
- Unplugged the Stream 200 XLR
- Held the power button on the back
- Reconnected the device while holding the button
- Restarted Stream Control
The Stream 200 XLR BOOTLOADER is then detected correctly in Windows Device Manager and shows “This device is working properly”.
However, Stream Control still only shows “No device found” and does not offer the firmware update to version 2.39.
The current hsm_api_core_x64.dll is also dated 09/06/2026 and has version 1.53.0.0

I followed all the steps, but the Stream 200 is still stuck in the boot menu. All I can see on the display is “Stream200XLR”.
Unfortunately, your suggestion to update the firmware didn’t work either.
The only thing I find strange is that the “BOOTLOADER” entry is not present in my Device Manager.

There are no Windows errors at all. The device simply gets stuck.
- Firmware update → freezes
- Tested on two other PCs → freezes
- Changed the USB cable → freezes
- The software and everything required on the PC works correctly.
The device screen suddenly turned off during normal operation. This had happened several times before. Usually, unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable fixed it.
This time, after unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable, the device got stuck on the startup screen.
I also tried the firmware update procedure by holding down the power button while unplugging/reconnecting the USB cable. The screen starts up, but then the device freezes again and does not continue.
Could it be that the power-saving mode is active for your USB devices? You might want to check that in Device Manager. It is quite possible that this setting gets re-enabled after a Windows update, so you have to disable it manually again; this is a common occurrence after Windows updates.

On one of the PCs I initially tested, I had forgotten that the Hercules software and HSM drivers were not installed. I have now tested the Stream 200 XLR again on my Gaming PC with the correct software installed — and the device works normally there.
So the Stream 200 XLR itself is apparently still functional.
We then completely cleaned my Streaming PC:

So it now seems that there is a driver/USB/software issue specifically on the Streaming PC.

thank you for the suggestion. I checked the USB power-saving settings in Device Manager.
For all USB Root Hubs, the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is already disabled, so USB power saving does not appear to be the cause.

I have done a lot of further troubleshooting and I think we now have some very useful information. I would like to give you a complete summary of everything we have tested so far.
Original problem
The display of my Stream 200 XLR suddenly went black during normal operation. This had happened a few times before, and normally disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable solved it.
This time, after reconnecting it, the device became stuck on the “Stream200XLR” startup screen and would not boot any further.
There is no Windows error message.
Firmware recovery/update attempts using the power button and reconnecting USB will activate the display, but the process also freezes.
Important correction regarding my previous PC tests
Initially, I thought the device also failed on other PCs. However, on one of those PCs I had forgotten that the Hercules software/HSM package was not installed.
I therefore repeated the test correctly on my Gaming PC with the Hercules software installed.
The Stream 200 XLR works perfectly on the Gaming PC.
This means the hardware itself is apparently functional and the problem seems to be specific to my Streaming PC.
Complete cleanup on the Streaming PC
We performed a complete cleanup:

As you suggested, I checked all USB Root Hubs in Device Manager.
“Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is already disabled on all relevant USB Root Hubs.
Therefore, USB power saving does not appear to be the cause.
AMD chipset drivers
The Streaming PC uses an MSI B450 TOMAHAWK (MS-7C02) motherboard.
We completely removed the existing AMD chipset package, restarted Windows, installed the current AMD chipset package and restarted the PC again.
The installation completed successfully.
Afterwards we tested the Stream 200 XLR again.
No change – still stuck on the startup screen.
Device Manager – very interesting result
Despite the Stream 200 XLR being stuck on its startup screen, Windows actually detects it correctly under:
Audio, video and game controllers → Hercules Stream 200 XLR
There is no yellow warning symbol.
The installed driver on the Streaming PC is:
Provider: Hercules
Driver date: 13/06/2023
Driver version: 5.58.0.30265
Digital signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
Windows also reports that the device was successfully started.
Kernel-PnP Event ID 410:
“The device … was started.”
Driver: oem8.inf

However, there is one Windows warning
On the Streaming PC there is also:
Kernel-PnP Event ID 442
Windows reports that the device settings were not migrated due to a partial or ambiguous device match.
The status shown is:
0xC0000719
Interestingly, Windows subsequently still reports Event ID 410 and says that the device was started.
Hercules HSM service
We checked Windows Services.
Hercules® HSM Series Service
is:
Running
Startup type: Automatic
Log on as: Local System
So the Hercules background service is present and running normally.
Hercules Stream Control
This is where things become particularly interesting.
Windows detects the Stream 200 XLR and reports that its driver has started, and the HSM service is running.
However, when I open Hercules Stream Control, it displays:
“No device found.”
At the same time, the physical Stream 200 XLR remains frozen on the “Stream200XLR” startup screen.
Direct comparison with the working Gaming PC
We then compared the working Gaming PC with the problematic Streaming PC.
The Gaming PC uses exactly the same Hercules driver:
Provider: Hercules
Driver date: 13/06/2023
Driver version: 5.58.0.30265
The Hercules® HSM Series Service is also running and set to Automatic, exactly as on the Streaming PC.
However, there is one important difference in the Windows device events.
On the working Gaming PC there are only:

Event 430 – device installation requested

Event 400 – device configured
-
Event 410 – device started
There is NO Event 442 warning on the working Gaming PC.
On the problematic Streaming PC there are:

Event 430
-
Event 442 – device settings were not migrated

Event 400

Event 410
So far, this is the first clear technical difference we have found between the working PC and the problematic PC.
Current situation
Gaming PC:
Stream 200 XLR boots normally → Windows detects it → Stream Control detects it → everything works.
Streaming PC:
Stream 200 XLR freezes on startup → Windows still detects it and starts the Hercules driver → HSM service is running → Stream Control says “No device found” → Kernel-PnP Event 442 appears.
At this point I do not want to randomly remove or change more Windows drivers because we now have a reproducible difference between the two PCs.
Could Event ID 442 / status 0xC0000719 be related to the problem, or is there another Hercules driver/device component we should specifically remove or reset?
If necessary, I can also provide screenshots from both PCs showing the Device Manager events, driver versions and service status.

Status 0xC0000719: In short, this means the system blocked the driver during an attempt to load or migrate it because it was classified as faulty, incompatible, or impermissible due to security features (such as Memory Integrity/HVCI).
As I suspected, this could be a Windows error; one way to test this is to uninstall the most recent update—specifically the Windows version update, not the security updates—then restart the computer and see if it works again. Error 0xC0000719 is a well-known issue in Windows. Tomorrow, I’m going to install the program in a Windows 11 container on my Linux system to test it out. Maybe I’ll find a solution.
